After looking at some of the 60's music videos, I nostalgically seached abba and found the clip to my favourite Abba Song - Thankyou for the Music and reminised while it played - I entertained other teachers in the computer lab at the same time!!!
Uses in the classroom could be endless - technology allowing that is.
This term I intend to give the kids an overview of the 23 things and I am sure You tube will be one of their favourites.

Wikis
I can see how using a wiki to create an online community would be a great idea, and I can't wait to get my teeth into it when we return to school in a couple of weeks.
Library2.0
I found the first 2 articles quite interesting, although some of what was being talked about was not as relevant to me as I work in a small primary school library. That said, I can see how Web 2.0 technologies can improve services to students and will be looking at how some of these can be implemented. I can see how using a blog to communicate with students and between students could be useful and fun and time-saving for me. Lots easier than responding individually to hundreds of emails.
That latter articles lost me in their jargon, and therefore quickly lost my interest.

Technorati
I didn't find this site very exciting, as I haven't as yet had cause to search through blogs. I will keep it in mind though just-in-case.
Del.icio.us
I have set up a Del.icio.us account because I can see it will be useful for me for my school prep work. I do alot of my prep from home as I only work 2 days/week, so now I will be able to use the bookmarks at school as well.
Rollyo
This is a quote from Rollyo - Quick Quotes. "Love is like Oxygen. Love is a many splendid thing-love lifts us up where we belong! All you need is love." Christian (Ewan McGregor) in Moulin Rouge (2001). I loved this movie, and reading the quote in a huge list of 'love' quotes made me smile.

Library Thing
I have created an account in Library Thing and I think this is a great idea. It is going to take ages to catalog all of my books, but am looking forward to seeing what others with my tastes are reading - always on the lookout for a 'good read'.

Bloglines
Well, I did successfully create a bloglines account and added feeds, that wasn't too hard. I can see how this could be useful for people who like to keep up to date with alot of information. At the moment I don't use the internet for this purpose, but can see that after a bit more playing and finding out what is available, it could be fun. I have added a friend's blog address, so will see if I remember to check.
The second part of the task I found very difficult - not sure what the point was and was not able to make it work. Had the same problems as some others who had posted to the blog. Will try again later.

Technology
Well, having read a number of comments by others completing the 23 things, I can agree with a number of points of view. I too am excited to be leaning what all the terminology means - have heard alot of the words, and am glad to be 'in the loop'. I also agree though that technology can be a huge time-waster - time being such a precious comodity. I think the trick though is to find those technologies that work for you, are useful to you or just appeal to you and concentrate on those - especially if they save you time. That said though I think it is really important in our industry (I'm a Teacher-Librarian) to keep abreast of the new technologies and to remember that it is OK to learn some things from our students, I don't think we will ever keep ahead of some of them when it comes to technology - they are living it!
I think of have contradicted myself a number of times above - oh well - am looking forward to continuing on the journey.

OOPS
It's easy to see this is all new to me - I guess I meant 'mash-up' rather than 'mashr' - got a bit carried away!
Reading space in Children's services
Learning 2.0 Post #2
Flikr.
I just love this picture of a great reading space. I teach at an all boys school, and I know they would just love this in our library. What a great motivator to grab a book and read.

Learning 2.0 Post #1
7 1/2 Habits of Effective Life Long Learners.
Easiest: Begin with the end in mind - because I find it easy and exciting to come up with things I would like to be able to do. Learn to make greeting cards rather than buy them, create scrapbbok of photos of my kids.
Hardest: View problems as challenges - the negative aspects of unexpected things that happen are often more obvious than the positives.
